A long time ago... we used to be friends...

I don't know what it is about the CW and its predecessors, but I watched a handful of their shows for quite some time (Buffy, Angel, Felicity, and most recently the Gilmore Girls). I guess it was about time that I found a new CW show to follow.

A few weeks (months?) ago I shared a few beers with the Squirrel, and he expressed surprise that I was't already watching Veronica Mars. Having caught a handful of season 3 episodes on the CW, I decided that I had to watch the series from the beginning, thanks much to Netflix for having TV series rentals!

Over the years, I've watched quite a few shows that started on the WB/UPN (Buffy, Felicity, Angel, Gilmore Girls) and I guess they all seem to have the same underlying characteristic of sarcasm and witty biting dialogue that just seems to be lacking on the major networks. How I Met Your Mother might be close, but that's pretty much it.. I wonder if Firefly would have made it on the CW, instead of Fox. Could it be possible that being on the CW actually makes certain types of shows more likely to succeed? I'm glad I didn't get sucked into One Tree Hill after talking to The Vet and her hubby.

In any case, while the WB/UPN have been gone for a while, it's good to see you again as the CW. Hello again, old friend.

It's amazing how many things you end up forgetting. I just saw Waitress and for the life of me could not remember where I had seen Keri Russell before. I literally watched for over 100 minutes until I finalized realized she was Felicity. For some reason I've always liked the WB and now the CW, and I watched a good season or two of Felicity, including the episodes where they went to a costume party dressed as Sandwich Artists. Felicity also happens to be where I first saw Amy Jo Johnson, also known as Car Girl on What About Brian. I should stop before this turns into Six Degress of Kevin Bacon.

In any case, back to the movie... It made me kinda sad and kinda mad at the same time. I suppose that makes it a decent movie. Good reviews. Decent premise. Mediocre at best.

I finally got around to copying my RSS reader to another computer, and I'm catching up on some of my old favorites.

Did Captain Capitalism play this wrong? At the very least I know I would have played it differently. Hopefully I'll never be that socially awkward.

Note to self: If I ever change careers, stay out of economics.

Did some last minute christmas shopping on the 23rd, including an 11PM last minute trip to Walmart in search of my Wii (which of course went unfulfilled). The one benefit of shopping at Ann Taylor (gift certificate only!) is that the cashier was a total hottie. Maybe I should rethink my policies of:
A) don't hit on "the help"
B) no dating retail.

I guess it could be worse. I could have thought the baristas as Starbucks were looking might fine (they weren't).

I've been spending a lot of time reevaluating what I'm doing with my life and how I'm spending my time. For the most part, I think it's a good thing. I've arguably spent a little too much time analyzing every part of my life, but if I'm not going to do it, who will? I'm the one that has to look at myself in the mirror every morning. Might as well see myself without glasses. =)

We'll see if I can reach my goal of dropping a few more inches around my tummy in the next 2 months or so.
